Overthinking & inability to take decisions were my 2 major weaknesses before I came across the book 5 Second Rule.
What used to happen earlier with me was,
whenever I used to decide that anyhow I’ve to complete my project/assignment/study by 10 pm and the moment I sat down to work, the brain started producing thoughts like, Let’s watch something entertaining to refresh the mood for 10-15 minutes
but, I never stopped there and used to stuck there wasting endless hours over the internet.
And, at this moment, I can bet many of you my friends must be having few pending works which you’ve to complete but you’ve reached here.
Don’t worry. I guarantee you your time will not be wasted.
Why does this happen with us?
Look, our mind is designed in such a way to protect us from doing hard work or any work which requires more effort, irrelevant of its necessity.
And everything that we want to accomplish whether it’s building a business, studying hard, networking, learning something new etc.these all requires an immense effort.
& our brain is constantly searching ways to prevent us from doing hard work.
& that’s why we end up wasting our time over unproductive activities.
But, what is the solution?
The solution which I am going to give you is really unbelievable, simple but not easy.
Some of you may find it weird but it works. It has changed lives of many people across the world
The rule is called The 5 Second Rule.
Now, what is The 5 Second Rule?
The moment when you’ve got an instinct to act on a goal. You must count 5-4-3-2-1 & physically move your body to action before your brain kills that instinct.
- You can use this rule to jump out of bed when you’re feeling lazy or sleepy or You can use this to push yourself to go to the gym when you aren’t feeling it.
- It can help you to step out of your comfort zone & become more effective at work.
Now, you may be wondering, How can 1 simple rule work in so many ways?
The answer is, The 5-second rule is working only on one thing & that’s YOU.
YOU are the problem in your life & in 5 seconds you can push yourself & become the solution. You’ve greatness within you & this rule gives you the courage to hear your greatness & act on it.
When you start to count 5-4-3-2-1, it distracts you from the worries, thoughts & fear that occur in your mind due to overthinking. By procrastinating you’re convincing yourself that now isn’t your time.
You’re acting against your dreams.
Instead of doing this, replace it with a new habit of 5-4-3-2-1 & G0.
I know, I know that’s not easy. But
Hitting the snooze button is normal, feeling sick is normal, we are humans, we’ve emotions. That’s life.
Always remember you’re only 5 seconds away to taking control again.
